Access audits

From the 1st of Oct 2004, organisations that provide goods and services to the public are required by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) to ensure that their premises and services can be accessed by disabled persons. Public access for disabled people is an essential part of every building used by the public.

The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) gives disabled people important rights of access to everyday services. These include services provided by hotels, banks, restaurants, office buildings, shops, pubs, theatres and many more. In fact, all providers of services to the public excluding the Armed Forces.

Failure to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the disabled without justification is deemed as discrimination under the act. It is now imperative that proper consideration is given to this aspect of projects.

The 1ES Group has trained and accredited resources to audit your premises and provide guidance on best practice.

We can also fabricate suitable equipment such as ramps to ensure access for disabled people where the structure of the building is unsuitable.
